Lahaina Harbor Maui

Since Kamehameha I arrived in Lahaina who conquered the Hawaiian islands in the late 1700s,hebrought over 1000war canoes to Lahaina during his campaign,. Shortly after Kamehameha’s death, a large inflow of whalers andmission aries arrived in the Hawaiian islands. The Whalers would anchor off shore and make their way into Lahain avia Canal Street, where they would exchange for supplies and replenish their supplies of food and water. Between Oluwalu and Honokawai, more than 400 ships of the Pacific Fleet were anchored offshore before embarking on their battle against the Japanese Empire during World War II. The proximity of Moloka’i, Lana’i, and Kaho’olaweto Lahaina results in a natural harbor for all three islands. It is for this reason that cruise ships continue to moor offthe coast of Lahaina to this day. Before inter-island air travel became a reality, a ferry service transported passengers from the ancient dock, which was positioned near the lighthouse, to the mainland. The lighthouse visible on the webcam is the site of the world’ sfirst lighthouse, which was built in the Pacific Ocean. The present-day harbor was built in the 1950s to replace anolderwharf that had been in use. On the north side of Front Street, behind the giant banyan and in front of the Pioneer Inn, is Lahaina Harbor, which islocated in downtown Lahaina. Sports fishing, sailing, diving, and whale watching are just a few of the oceanadventuresthat can be found around the world. Sunsets are also quite beautiful! During the winter, snorkeling and diving excursions can get you up close and personal with dolphins, green sea turtles, and humpback whales. Lahaina Harbor is conveniently located in the heart of Lahaina, directly in front of the historic Pioneer Inn. Once infamous for sheltering illegal whaling ships, it has become a popular tourist site in more recent years. Numerous tourand activity companies, including those that provide shoreline cruises, snorkeling and diving excursions, and parasailing or glass-bottom boat trips, are based in this area. Aside from that, Lahaina Harbor is where ferries to the adjacent islands of Lanai and Molokai leave from. Views of Lahaina’s shoreline and the adjacent island of Lanai are also available from this location, as is the opportunity to witness a diverse range of vessels, including sailboats, catamarans, motorboats, and expensive yachts.
