Of all of the reasons to travel to Hawaii, the beach is probably reason #1 why visitors from around the world flock to the islands. When visiting Maui, there are no shortage of incredible beaches to check out, and spend a day or two soaking in the sun, the scenery, and the beach vibes that the island is known for. Found all around Maui, many of these beaches are among the best in Hawaii, offering a perfect setting to fall in love with Hawaii.
There are many great beaches that are located just steps from any of the hotels and resorts on the island, and there are even great options that are hidden and take some work to get to. But the reward is well worth it. Here are some of our favorite beaches on the island:
Wailea Beach
Found right in the heart of Kihei, Wailea Beach might look strikingly familiar. This is one of the most picturesque beaches in Hawaii, and is often used as the setting in photos and screensavers. The soft sand, blue water, and lines of palm trees make the beach just perfect, and with hotels and resorts found very close to the sand, all of the amenities that you can ask for are close by.
Wai’anapanapa Black Sand Beach
One of the most exotic beaches in all of Hawaii, Wai’anapanapa Beach is strikingly beautiful. Though it is not ideal for water activities, the beach is a great place to visit and is backed by a beach park and plenty of trails to explore, leading to hidden features all around, including sea caves. This is a stop along Maui’s Road to Hana, so plan accordingly and spend some time here during your trip.
Ka’anapali Beach
The setting of the Huakai Luau, Ka’anapali Beach is another beach that is right out of a picture. The soft sand and ultra blue waters create the perfect setting for a day on the beach and the water is just right for ocean activities. Spend a day at the beach, enjoy the evening’s ceremonial cliff dive from Black Rock, and don’t forget about the spectacular setting for the luau once the sun starts to set.
