The pre-show starts at 5:15 PM, the main show runs 6:00–7:00 PM and the cast meet-and-greet lasts until 7:15 PM, on the Luau Lawn at the Hilton Grand Vacations Kāʻanapali Beach Club.

What is the Huakaʻi Lūʻau winter schedule?

The Huakaʻi Lūʻau winter schedule is the October-through-March running order, in which check-in and doors open at 5:00 PM every Tuesday instead of the 5:30 PM used from April through September. Every other time in the evening moves 30 minutes earlier with it: the pre-show begins at 5:15 PM, the dinner buffet opens at 5:20 PM, the main Polynesian revue runs from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM with the Samoan fireknife finale, and the cast stays out for a meet-and-greet until 7:15 PM. The show takes place on the Luau Lawn at Hilton Grand Vacations Kāʻanapali Beach Club, 104 Kāʻanapali Shores Place, Lāhainā. The open bar, buffet dinner and live band are included in the ticket, and seating inside each ticket tier is first-come, first-served.

Why does the luau start earlier in winter?

Huakaʻi Lūʻau starts earlier from October through March because the sun sets earlier, and the evening is built around the outdoor lawn: pre-show music and lei-making, dinner at long shared tables, then the revue as the light fades. According to timeanddate.com, sunset in Lāhainā is 5:49 PM on November 3, 2026, falls to its earliest of the year, 5:44 PM, around November 25–26, and does not reach 7:09 PM until mid-June 2027. That is a swing of about 85 minutes between the earliest winter sunset and a June evening. Moving the schedule 30 minutes keeps guests seated, fed and watching the stage while there is still sky behind it.

Guests settle in at long tables on the Luau Lawn as the stage lights come up beneath a pink and purple sky — the check-in window is when the best seats go.

In practice, a November guest arrives at 5:00 PM with the sun still up, eats during the golden hour, and sees the revue begin about 11 minutes after sunset on November 3, under dusk light and torchlight. For more on timing an evening around the light, read our Maui sunset guide.

How do you plan a Tuesday evening around a 5:00 PM check-in?

Planning around a 5:00 PM check-in comes down to four things: when you leave, where you park, how early you line up, and what you bring. Because seating is first-come, first-served within each ticket tier, arriving early is the one lever you control. Our confirmation email recommends arriving about 30 minutes before doors to line up for the best seats.

  1. Leave on time. From Kīhei, plan to leave by around 4:00 PM for 5:00 PM doors. See the drive guide from Kīhei for the route and timing.
  2. Park in the Hilton garage. Parking is subterranean at the Hilton and the spots fill up fast.
  3. Check in and line up early. Doors open at the stated time, and the front of the line gets first pick of seats in your tier.
  4. Dress for an outdoor evening. The show is on an open lawn, so bring a light layer for after the sun goes down.
  5. Know the rain plan. In bad weather the luau may move inside the ballroom or be cancelled, depending on conditions.

In winter the revue opens just after sunset, so the dancers, the live band and the torchlight carry the evening from dusk onward.

Tickets are General Admission at $180 adult / $72 child (6–12) and VIP at $210 adult / $84 child, plus tax, with children 0–5 free. Details and the booking calendar are on our tickets page, and the venue story is on the Kāʻanapali Beach page.
